Flamboyance is a quiz game about English collective nouns for animals. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and how to remove it.
What we collect
- An anonymous account ID. The app signs you in anonymously the first time you open it — no email, phone number, or password. This ID lets your progress, scores, and league standing persist between sessions.
- A display name. Generated for you automatically (an adjective and a noun, like "curious-otter") — no typed text is ever collected for this. You can spin a new one any time from You → Settings → Change name. It's shown to other players on the league leaderboard and in duels/parties.
- Gameplay data. Quiz answers, duel and party results, speed run scores, study progress, and league points — all tied to your anonymous account ID so the app can show your stats and standings.
- Live connection status, in a party. While you're in a multiplayer party, the app tracks whether your device is actively connected so the game can stay in sync and hand hosting to another player if the host disconnects. Other players in that same party can see this status while it's happening (e.g. that the host has lost connection) — nobody can see it outside that party, and once the party's over there's no ongoing display of it, though it's retained as part of that party's history the same as your answers and score are.
What we don't collect
No real name, email, contacts, location, photos, microphone, camera, advertising identifiers, or browsing history. Flamboyance shows no ads and does no third-party tracking or analytics.
How data is used
Solely to run the app's own features: your scores, your league rank, and what other players see of you in multiplayer modes. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to track you across other apps or websites.
Where it's stored
Data is stored with Supabase, our backend provider, secured in transit with HTTPS and protected by row-level database policies so you can only read or change your own data (other players' data is visible only where the game itself shows it, like the league leaderboard).
Your anonymous account ID is also kept on your device so the app can sign you back in automatically. On iOS this is stored in Keychain and synced via iCloud Keychain if you have it turned on, so reinstalling the app or moving to a new iPhone can restore the same account instead of starting a new one. On Android this is included in Android's Auto Backup for Apps, which Google backs up to your Google Drive under the same conditions. Both are Apple's and Google's own device-backup systems — Flamboyance doesn't separately transmit this ID anywhere beyond Supabase and your own device's backup.
Deleting your data
Open the You tab in the app, tap Settings, then tap Delete my data. This permanently removes your account, display name, scores, ratings, league points, and history — immediately, with no need to contact us.
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot access it, email harehouseconsulting@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my Flamboyance data" and include your display name. We'll process your request within 30 days. See our data deletion page for more details.
Children
Flamboyance doesn't knowingly collect data from children and contains no age-gated content — it's a general-audience word game.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change too.
